The distinctive English Riviera palm tree logo was created by award-winning designer John Gorham.
It was introduced in 1982 and quickly became the identifying icon for the resorts of Torquay, Paignton and Brixham on the coast of South Devon.
The English Riviera palm tree logo featured prominently in a successful 20 year marketing campaign managed by London creative agency cdp-travissully.
English Riviera – Quirky Marketing
The English Riviera Marketing Campaign won over 100 awards during its 20 year duration. The campaigns often appeared on prominent poster sites in the West Midlands and London, frequently causing controversy in South Devon.
On the strength of its work for the English Riviera, the creative agency also worked on a wider brief from the English Tourist Board to entice UK holiday makers back to seaside resorts such as Blackpool and Brighton.
