‘Breaking Dawn’ Reveals Make Best ‘Twilight’ Year Yet

‘Twilight Tuesday’ rounds up video of Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner talking the wedding, honeymoon and being shirtless.

We knew 2011 was going to be a big year in the world of “Twilight” news. The fanbase seemed to keep growing by the hour, as did the excitement surrounding the release of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn- Part 1.” The release of a new “Twilight” film also meant that we’d be seeing a lot of the blockbuster franchise’s superstars as they promoted the film — and, boy, was MTV News lucky with how much time we ended up spending with Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and the rest of the gang this year. As such, this week’s “Twilight Tuesday” is dedicated to the best and brightest of those interviews with our favorite stars.

Our first encounter with a “Twilight” star was our chat with Pattinson at the Golden Globes, during which he provided us with a giggly reaction to the first “Breaking Dawn – Part 1″ still of Bella and Edward in bed, as well as his positive reviews of Stewart playing a vampire. “It’s like she wanted to do it the entire time,” he told us. “It’s really funny, it’s like a completely different environment on set when she’s a vampire and when she’s not. I think she’s going to do it really well.”

There were also plenty of teases about the film’s most highly anticipated scenes, including the wedding of Edward and Bella and the honeymoon sex scene. Of seeing Stewart in a wedding dress during the filming of their characters’ nuptials, Pattinson said, “She looked amazing. I really didn’t do much than just stand there.”

Stewart later said of the experience: “It was very, very emotional for me.”

Pattinson added, “You kind of realize what the groom’s position in a wedding is, which, in reality, is basically a prop. You stand there in a suit, and then everyone is looking at the girl.”

One scene in which everyone was most certainly not just looking at the girl is the first sex scene between Edward and Bella on their wedding night. “I think we had some really interesting ideas about [the love scene],” Pattinson said when we caught up with him at the “Water for Elephants” press junket. “It’s kind of interesting, as well, having to do it in the context of PG-13. It makes it more interesting.”

Speaking to all the hype about the big moment, Pattinson said that although there was a lot of pressure to deliver some major fireworks in the scene, he was confident he’d give a convincing performance. “That’s the one time I have felt like the coolest person,” Pattinson admitted with a laugh. “I was like, ‘This is easy!’ I can fulfill people’s sexual fantasy expectations without even thinking, piece of cake. That isn’t acting,” he joked. “The only thing [that was difficult] is the vanity aspect,” Pattinson continued. “Taylor [Lautner] just ruined the whole series for me. As soon as he buffed up, I’m like, ‘Well, I’m throwing in the towel’ on ‘New Moon.’ ”

Speaking of Lautner and his chiseled abs, the heartthrob told us that he had to actively campaign to director Bill Condon and the powers that be to limit his amount of shirtlessness in the film, much to the disappointment of his devoted fan following.

“I got it down to one time, one time in the movie, and it literally lasts for two seconds,” Lautner said proudly of his single shirtless shot. “There was some negotiating for sure. There was more [shirtless scenes] when I read the original script, trust me,” he said. “And I got it down to a very, very small amount, which I was so happy with.”

Other interview highlights included the unexpected, off-the-cuff, informal moments wherein our favorite stars played ball with a few of our more-outlandish requests and questions. Case in point: When we asked Jackson Rathbone to help read off a few of the 2011 MTV Movie Awards nominees in song, which he did in good spirits and with aplomb. Then there was the “Breaking Dawn” version of the always-entertaining “Yes/No Show” with Pattinson, Stewart and Lautner.

And those are just a small collection of our favorites from 2011 alone. Only time will tell what 2012 will bring as we gear up for the “epic” conclusion to the franchise, “Breaking Dawn – Part 2.” It goes without saying that we can’t wait.

Kristen Stewart In Talks For Role In ‘Akira’

‘Breaking Dawn’ star would play Kei in big-screen adaptation of Japanese graphic novel.

Kristen Stewart is currently in “advanced talks” to star in “Akira,” based on the Japanese graphic novel. If things pan out, the “Twilight” star would play the female lead, Kei, Deadline Hollywood reports.

The news was first reported by TwitchFilm, who added that Stewart could join her “On the Road” co-star Garrett Hedlund in the movie, as well as Gary Oldman and Helena Bonham Carter, who are also rumored to be starring in the adaptation. In Katsuhiro Otomo’s manga, Kei is “a young medium who becomes the love interest for [Hedlund's] Kaneda.”

Deadline further reported that the film has been a high priority for Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures for about two years now. Jaume Collet-Serra is set to direct the two films based on the three graphic novels. (“Akira” was previously adapted for the big screen in 1988 as an animated flick.)

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Collet-Serra flicks would revolve around two brothers living in a place called New Manhattan. One brother, Kaneda, is a motorcycle gang leader, while his younger brother has telekinetic powers that can be used as a weapon. Stewart’s Kei would be involved in an underground movement trying to expose the government.

Should Stewart take the role, it could mark the third franchise on her growing résumé. On Friday, the first of those franchises nears its end with the release of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.” The last of the two-part finale hits theaters in 2012. She’s currently filming “Snow White and the Huntsman,” which also has series potential.

‘Breaking Dawn’ Bridal Gown ‘Moved’ Kristen Stewart

‘I was very flattered I was asked to do it,’ designer Carolina Herrera tells MTV News of Stephenie Meyer’s personal request.

Of all the big reveals in “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1″ that don’t involve the words “sex” and “scene,” fans are dying to see Bella’s wedding dress.

It’s been one of the most closely guarded film secrets in recent memory, and rightly so, according to author Stephenie Meyer, who told us the key ingredient to the wedding scene was Kristen Stewart looking “gorgeous” and “unbelievable” in that dress. Thankfully, come Friday, the secret will officially be out.

MTV News was lucky enough to get a few details about said dress from legendary fashion designer Carolina Herrera at the film’s premiere Monday night, as she led us through the process for how she ended up with the coveted task. “I was called by Stephenie Meyer. We had to discuss a lot, but I was very inspired by her book and the description of the wedding,” Herrera said. “I was very flattered I was asked to do it; it’s a big scene for me.”

Herrera said she loves the romance and the idea of true love as depicted in the book and that she was happy to be a part of such a magical scene. She also spoke to the importance and delicacy in designing wedding dresses in general.

“Wedding dresses are different, because you have to know that it’s the most important day in the life of a woman,” she said. “You have to please the bride first of all, and it has to be a secret. I cannot talk about the dress before the groom sees it. I treated [Kristen Stewart's Bella] like every other bride,” she admitted. “I think [Stewart] was very moved when she tried it on. And that means a lot, because she felt that it was the right one.”

Given her pleasant experience with the film’s wedding dress, might Herrera consider designing something for Stewart in real life? “Why not? If she asked me, absolutely,” Herrera said with a smile, but added that Stewart doesn’t need to by styled by anyone. “She knows exactly what she wants to wear. … You can wear anything at21. You don’t need any advice. When you are Kristen Stewart, you can wear whatever you want.”

Kristen Stewart Squirms Reliving First MTV Interview

‘I just can’t handle that,’ ‘Twilight’ actress says, jumping out of her chair during ‘MTV First: Breaking Dawn.’

Kristen Stewart at MTV First: “Breaking Dawn”

Photo: MTV News

Our “MTV First: Breaking Dawn” was full of so many fun moments between “Twilight Saga” stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner that we would be remiss if we didn’t go back to highlight a few of the best.

One of the most surprising and entertaining moments occurred when we informed Stewart that we brought a clip of her first-ever interview with MTV. Her reaction was immediate: “No, no, no, no, no, no, no. I actually can’t do this!” she said when we told her we were ready to roll the clip. “Ah! I don’t think you understand what that does to me. Uh. It’s happening,” she said, half-covering her face as the clip rolled.

In the clip, from MTV’s first interview with Stewart and Pattinson on the set of the first “Twilight” movie, we ask Stewart what impressed her about working with Pattinson thus far.

“I think he’s really handsome,” she jokes, sending Pattinson into a fit of laughter. “No, no. He can’t lie,” she admits, taking the question seriously. “He’s incapable of lying, so it’s pretty clear when we need to work on the scene.”

Pattinson cuts in, joking that Stewart doesn’t think he can act: “What she means [by 'lying'] is ‘acting.’ ”

Stewart counters: “Nope. That’s so not what I mean. He’s just copping out,” she adds, and then the clip fades to black, and we see Stewart up out of her interview chair, half-pacing in front of Pattinson and Lautner.

“I just can’t handle that,” Stewart attempted to explain of her discomfort watching herself onscreen. “As far as I’m concerned, this doesn’t exist,” she said, indicating that she was trying to block out the fact that we were taping an interview at that very moment.

When asked what it was about the interview that had her so unsettled, Stewart said that it was just a “very different” time.

“We’ve had a lot of development,” she said about her growing interactions with MTV News. “Our relationships have really progressed, I feel.”

‘Breaking Dawn’ Wedding Is ‘Ceremonial,’ Kristen Stewart Says

‘Nobody saw it until I walked out,’ actress tells MTV News of bridal gown.

Kristen Stewart in “Breaking Dawn”

Twilighters who caught the premiere of an exclusive new clip from “Breaking Dawn- Part 1″ got a taste of all the emotions coursing through the lives of Bella and her family (both the Swans and the Cullens) as she readies herself to marry her immortal beloved, Edward.

On Thursday, Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner introduced the clip and stuck around for a lengthy Q&A after the clip’s debut, during which they opened up about all the highly anticipated moments from the November 18 film.

During the “MTV First” live stream, the “Breaking Dawn” trio took a video question from Tiffany, who wanted to know if Stewart kept her Carolina Herrera creation a secret from her fellow castmates until she walked down the aisle.

“Nobody saw it until I walked out, which made me so … ” Stewart said before trailing off. “It wasn’t about the dress; it was just everything involved. I was like, ugh, so very the center of attention at that very moment.”

The moment she’s referring to was an emotional one for the cast, who had spent three movies working up to the long-awaited nuptials between Bella and Edward. While it’s believed the groom shouldn’t see the bride before the wedding, Pattinson broke with tradition, much to Stewart’s dismay. “He saw it before,” she recalled. “And I was like, ‘No, you can’t.’ It did feel, like, very sort of realistically ceremonial.”

It was so “realistically ceremonial” that Stewart couldn’t help but feel some real emotions the day they shot the buzzed-about scene. “It was very, very emotional for me,” Stewart said. “I don’t know about these guys.”

Kristen Stewart in “Twilight: Breaking Dawn – Part 1″

For all the “Twilight” fans out there — and, more specifically, the prone-to-swoon hopeless romantics — one of the most anticipated moments in “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1″ is the wedding of Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson).

Fans have been buzzing about it for as long as we can remember, and on Thursday (November 3) — thanks to our exclusive “MTV First: Breaking Dawn” with Stewart, Pattinson and Taylor Lautner — we got another sneak peek at how sweet, emotional and beautiful those nuptials are going to be when we finally see them on the big screen, when the film opens November 18.

Our clip opens with Bella’s mother Renee (Sarah Clarke) entering the room in which Alice (Ashley Greene) and Rosalie (Nikki Reed) are helping Bella get ready for her wedding day. “Oh my gosh, you’re so beautiful,” Mom says when she sees Bella, who is still in casual clothes but has her hair and makeup finished.

“Oh, honey — crap, my mascara!” Renee exclaims, at which point Alice hands her a tissue. “Thanks,” she says, dabbing at her eyes. “Charlie, get in here!” she calls to Bella’s father (played by Billy Burke).

Charlie pops his head into the frame tentatively. “You sure?” he asks, then walks slowly into the room, at which point Bella — seeing her dad all dolled up in a tuxedo — is so surprised she stands up out of her chair.

“I know,” he says, seeing her reaction. “I look hot.”

“We thought you needed something blue,” Renee says to Bella as Charlie opens a jewelry case to reveal a jewel-encrusted decorative hair comb.

“And something old,” Charlie adds. “Besides your mother,” he jokes.

“Thanks,” Renee scoffs.

“It was Grandma Swan’s,” Charlie tells Bella.

“But we added the sapphires,” Renee adds as Bella picks up the comb for a closer look.

“It’s beautiful, you guys,” Bella says, handing the comb to Alice to put in her hair. “Wow. Thank you so much.”

“It’s your first family heirloom,” Renee says. “You can pass it on to your daughter and her daughter,” she adds, tearing up and dabbing her eyes, and the scene fades to black.

‘Breaking Dawn’ Sex Scene ‘Super Serious,’ Robert Pattinson Jokes

‘It’s not just human sex. It’s … obviously blown a little bit out of proportion,’ Kristen Stewart adds on ‘MTV First.’
By Kevin P. Sullivan, with reporting by Josh Horowitz

Of all the moments fans are eagerly awaiting to see after “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1″ hits theaters on November 18 — the wedding and infamous birth scene included — few can measure up to the hype surrounding Edward and Bella’s first sex scene.

When MTV News’ Josh Horowitz sat down with Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner for “MTV First” and asked the cast questions submitted via Twitter, it was no surprise that the fans wanted to know more. One of the first questions asked was: “Rob and Kristen, was it extremely awkward filming the love scene in the movie? Were you guys laughing a lot throughout?”

Both Stewart and Pattinson turned quiet after hearing the question, and the answer was unanimous and definitely a joke. “Super serious,” Pattinson said.

“Yeah, me too,” Stewart agreed. The mood was certainly lighthearted and jokey, but Stewart ended up giving the question a serious answer. “Not to give anything away … You’ve been working for so long, and it’s also not real,” Stewart said. “It’s not just human sex. It’s … obviously blown a little bit out of proportion, slightly. It’s kind of like the most important scene in the movie. It’s so weird.”

Pattinson agreed and shared his own, let’s say, intimate experiences filming the love scene. “I just ended up thinking purely about vanity things,” Pattinson said. “You’re sitting there in a little g-string. … They give me a big g-string, but it was too small for me. It was like old ham.”

Not to be left out, Lautner shared his relief to have missed out on a g-stringing in “Breaking Dawn,” but reminded everyone that he had his “fair share of g-strings in ‘Eclipse.’

The proposal in “Eclipse”

Photo: Summit

Kristen Stewart was worried. Capturing Edward Cullen’s proposal to Bella Swan in last year’s “Eclipse” came with all sorts of potential hitches. A teen girl and a 100-plus-year-old vampire deciding to get married? A scene that legions of fans had been anticipating for years and which they’d undoubtedly scrutinize? Stewart didn’t want to mess it up.

“Well, to decide you’re gonna marry someone at 18 is a pretty hefty decision. And I didn’t want to look stupid,” the actress told us months before the film hit theaters. “I didn’t want it to look like kids getting married. You know what I mean? I wanted to be, like, ‘Oh! Wow! I would say yes too.’ ”

“Oh, wow” neatly summarizes moviegoers’ reaction to the moment, because the proposal scene was picked as the #2 “Twilight” moment in our fan-voted poll. The ultimate winner will be announced today, just hours before the debut of “MTV First: Breaking Dawn – Part 1,” our exclusive interview with Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner. At 7:56 p.m. ET, the three stars will introduce a never-before-seen clip from the upcoming film, which arrives in theaters on November 18. The interview will then continue on MTV.com for a full 30 minutes.

Until then, take a trip back in time and relive that beloved proposal scene. Hear, once again, Edward announce, “Isabella Swan, I promise to love you every moment forever. Would you do me the extraordinary honor of marrying me?”

What do you think she answered? Right. And what do you think Stewart thought of the whole thing? “You try to do it for real, and it felt good,” she told us.

Be sure to tune in to “MTV First: Breaking Dawn – Part 1,” which kicks off Thursday, November 3, on MTV at 7:56 p.m. ET, followed by a Q&A with Kristen, Rob and Taylor on MTV.com!
